How this works
Since lot sizes went up in November 2024, the same number of points is worth considerably more than it used to be. People who learned a feel for this before the change are often still working from the old one.
Pricing a move you have in mind is the quickest way to find out whether the position is the size you think it is.
Questions people ask
- Why does this matter more than it used to?
- SEBI raised the minimum contract value for index derivatives to ₹15 lakh from 20 November 2024, up from a ₹5–10 lakh band set in 2015. Lot sizes rose to match, so each point moves more money than it did before.

What this does not say: This multiplies numbers you typed. It names no contract, assumes no price, and says nothing about whether any move will happen.
