How far price has to move to cover your costs

Before a trade makes anything it has to pay for itself. This works out how much of a move that takes.

Your numbers

How this works

Every round trip starts behind by the charges on it. The move shown here is the part that goes to covering them, before anything reaches you.

Take the charges figure from your own contract note rather than estimating it. The note itemises brokerage, STT, GST, stamp duty, exchange transaction charges and SEBI turnover fees separately, and the total is usually larger than the brokerage alone.

The daily figure is there because the per-trade number looks small and the daily one usually does not.

Questions people ask

Where do I find my total charges?
On the contract note your broker sends for the day. It lists each charge separately. Use the total for the round trip, not just the brokerage line.
Why does this site not just apply the current rates?
Because they change, and publishing a rate we have not checked against the law as it stands today would be worse than asking you for the figure you were actually charged.

What this does not say: This divides figures you typed. It is not a quote of any charge or rate, and those are set by your broker and by statute, not by us.
